Induction - an interesting, innovative and intellectual day!

Tuesday 25th September 2012

Today was our Induction day at the Hendon Campus of Middlesex University. A group of new BA (Hons) Professional Practice (Arts) students met for the first time - and what a great bunch of people they are.
After the 'ice breaker' round of introducing ourselves, listening and learning were the key part of the day. At first, it seemed like an overload of information but every point made was useful and helped us all to understand exactly why we were there. I found it particularly interesting to hear the reasons why everyone has decided on pursuing the course, and their individual post-graduation plans. Our 'writing' exercise allowed us to share our own written work and discover what is important when it comes to writing...
  • Planning and structure
  • Use of images to enhance visualisation and tell a story
  • Aiming your vocabulary and presentation at a particular audience/reader
I chose to share some pages from a 'Dance Photography' project I created.. I'll share one of the images with you now:

It was an exciting day and I now feel prepared for the work and challenges ahead. Time keeping will be essential and I'm looking forward to keeping up to date with the group and seeing how we all progress through out the course.
